Franchise Notes: Prospective Warriors Buyer Meets With ARL

Prospective National Rugby League side New Zealand Warriors buyer Richard Fale met with the Auckland Rugby League "in the hope of rekindling a partnership to take joint ownership of the NRL club." Hawaiian politician Fale is the CEO of a Tongan-U.S. consortium engaged in talks to buy the Warriors from current Owner Eric Watson for a reported NZ$24M ($17.3M), but the ARL will enter its bid by the end of the week with a cash offer of NZ$20M ($14.4M) (NEW ZEALAND HERALD, 3/21).

EPL side Watford Owner Gino Pozzo denied his family "siphoned off money" from its clubs in Spain and Italy and avoided tax to help the Hornets reach the Premier League. Authorities are reportedly investigating the "Pozzo System," in which income generated from selling players from Udinese and Granada was diverted to Luxemburg holding company called Fifteen Securitisation. This money -- €63M -- was then "allegedly diverted to Watford" until it won promotion in '15 (London MIRROR, 3/21).

Following Inter Milan opening academies in Lebanon and Indonesia over the past four weeks, the club launched an Inter Academy in Budapest, Hungary. Inter's global coaching project partnered with Szent Pál Hungary, a leading Hungarian educational institution (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 3/21).
