Donnybrook Stadium To Be Renamed Energia Park

Leinster Rugby signed a 10-year deal making Energia an official premium partner.GETTY IMAGES

Donnybrook Stadium will be renamed Energia Park "with immediate effect," according to the IRISH INDEPENDENT. Pro14 side Leinster Rugby signed a 10-year deal for Energia to "become an official premium partner" of the club. The deal includes "energy supply and efficiency and sustainability initiatives." The stadium, which is home to lower-tier rugby clubs Bective Rangers and Old Wesley, was the home of Leinster Rugby until the move in '07 to the RDS. The stadium has undergone a "number of upgrades in recent years." In Feb. '08, the grandstand was completed, and in Nov. '14, "a new state of the art 3G pitch was unveiled." Since then, the stadium has hosted home fixtures for Ireland Women and Ireland U20s in the Six Nations, "as well as being the host venue" for all Leinster "A" games in the British & Irish Cup and Leinster Womens inter-provincial games, in addition to being the "home of schools rugby" in Leinster. Energia Park will host its first game when St. Mary's College takes on Blackrock College in the final of the Leinster Rugby Schools Junior Cup (IRISH INDEPENDENT, 3/21).
