Event Notes: AFL Hopeful Opening Game Will Draw 90,000

The Australian Football League and Richmond believe that the season’s opening game between the Tigers and Carlton "can become the first round-one game to break the 90,000 attendance barrier." The Tigers said that it appeared as if the match "was headed for a sell-out" (THE AGE, 3/13).

ESL announced its next Dota 2 Major competition will be held at Arena Birmingham from May 25-27, "marking the first time such an event" has come to the U.K. Two other ESL territories were "in the running," but it was "not disclosed what these other two territories were." The $1M prize pool tournament will offer 1,500 qualifying points for this year's Dota 2 World Championship (THE ESPORTS OBSERVER, 3/13).
