Indian Premier League Signs Mobile Wallet Brand Paytm

The Indian Premier League named mobile wallet brand Paytm its official umpire partner, from '18-22, according to Urvi Malvania of the Indian BUSINESS STANDARD. Paytm is also the title sponsor of India Cricket. CEAT Tyres will continue its association with the IPL as the official timeout partner for the next five years. Star India, the media rights holder of the IPL from '18-22, also announced that 34 brands in total have signed on as commercial partners for coverage of the tournament. While Vivo, Coca-Cola and Jio signed on as co-presenting sponsors, Polycab, Parle Products, AMFI, Make Amy Trip, Vimal Pan Masala, Asian Paints and Dream 11 are associate sponsors. The co-presenting sponsors have forked out an estimated Rs 800M ($12.3M) each for the association while associate sponsors would have paid around Rs 400M ($6.2M). Sources said that Star India set itself a target of Rs 20B ($310M) for this year’s IPL. Star won the global media rights to the IPL for five years for a bid price of Rs 164.38B ($2.53B) (BUSINESS STANDARD, 3/12).
