Lawn Tennis Association Confirms Two New Challenger Events

The Lawn Tennis Association announced two new ATP Challenger indoor hard court events to take place in April and May this summer, "providing Andy Murray with a boost in his comeback bid," according to Harry Slavin of the London DAILY MAIL. Loughborough University and Scotstoun will hold tournaments in April and May, which Murray "can target ahead of his return from hip surgery he underwent in January." The tournament in Glasgow, held between April 28 and May 6, is "likely to come too soon for the Scot," but "all being well," a comeback in Loughborough between May 19-27 "could be the aim." Murray had been in "confidential talks" with the LTA about the organization "staging a bespoke new tournament early this summer, specifically designed to accommodate his planned comeback" (DAILY MAIL, 3/12).
