Media Notes: SIC Retains Rights To Europa League Through '20-21

Portuguese free-to-air broadcaster SIC retained the rights to the Europa League through the '20-21 season. Portuguese newspaper Expresso reported that SIC will show a live match on each gameday of the tournament from the group stage through the final, "along with highlights of the competition." SIC has held rights to the Europa League since '09 and is reportedly offering a near 25% increase per season for the rights from '18-19 to '20-21, paying €1.6M ($2M) (SOCCEREX, 3/9).

State-owned broadcaster Bangladesh Television, pay-TV broadcaster Maasranga Television and Nagorik Television acquired rights in Bangladesh to the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The broadcasters agreed to sub-licensing deals with the Jadoo Media, K-Sports, Zircon and Mediacom consortium. The financial terms of the deals have not yet been disclosed (SOCCEREX, 3/9).

Global betting site Betway called for a "review of its advertising account as it ends its seven-year partnership with Above & Beyond." The review is going through AAR and a new agency will start this summer on a "long-term, multi-million pound contract." The appointed shop will be responsible for launching a global campaign in '19 "to support Betway's growth into new markets" (CAMPAIGN LIVE, 3/9).
