Marketplace Roundup: Messi Signs Deal With Mengniu Group

Lionel Messi signed an endorsement deal with the Mengniu Group. The Argentine int'l will "serve as a brand ambassador for the Chinese dairy products manufacturer," adding to his partnerships with Huawei, Gatorade and a life-long deal with adidas (SOCCEREX, 2/27). 

National Rugby League side Newcastle Knights announced a playing kit sponsorship with Mine Wealth + Wellbing for '18. Mine Super secured the final kit position on the playing shorts ahead of the Knights' final preseason match on Saturday (Newcastle Knights). 

Pro14 announced Freshly Chopped as its official health food partner for the Pro14 Final Series in May. Plans are in place to reward fans who get involved by following Freshly Chopped social media accounts for the chance to win tickets to the Pro14 Final. Each Final Series game will feature a Freshly Chopped "Health Hub" that will provide competitions, food sampling and giveaways (Pro14). 

The IAAF World Indoor Championships announced Spar as a national partner for the event in Birmingham starting on Thursday. The retailer will provide the workforce and volunteers with packed meals as part of the deal (TALKING RETAIL, 2/27).

EPL side Huddersfield Town announced pharmaceutical manufacturer Thornton + Ross extended its support of the club for a ninth consecutive season. The company will support the club's travel wear (Huddersfield Town). 

Eurosport Events, the promoter of the FIA World Touring Car Cup, extended its alliance with OSCARO under a new, two-year agreement for the retailer of original automotive spare parts to become the presenting partner of the new WTCR (WTCR). 

South Africa's Athletix Grand Prix Series announced Liquid Telecom as title sponsor for the next three years. Liquid Telecom CEO Kyle Whitehill "remained coy" about the exact worth of the sponsorship on Tuesday, saying that it was "a lot" (IOL, 2/27).

Top14 side Union Bordeaux Bègles' jersey sponsor Matmut will end its association with the club at the end of the season. The insurance firm, which has supported the club since ’13, decided to not renew its €500,000 ($611,630) annual sponsorship (L’ÉQUIPE, 2/27).
