La Liga side Villarreal defender RUBÉN SEMEDO "has reportedly been arrested following a violent incident at his home," in which he is said to have "tied up and assaulted a man." The Civil Guard of Valencia arrested Semedo on Tuesday following an "official complaint" by the victim. Semedo and two unnamed men reportedly "assaulted the individual in question before locking him in a room in the defender's house" (MARCA, 2/20). ... Esports organization Team Kongdoo announced South Korean singer and TV personality JUNG JOON-YOUNG joined its PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds team. Jung is known for being the lead vocalist for rock band Drug Restaurant and being a regular on Korean variety show "2 Days & 1 Night" (THE ESPORTS OBSERVER, 2/19). ... England rugby "outcast" DANNY CIPRIANI is set to be offered a £50,000 ($69,969)-a-game deal in Japan next season. Two Top League sides want to sign the player when his Premiership Rugby side Wasps deal expires in May. They are expected to "make bids of half-a-million pounds for the 30-year-old" for the '18-19 campaign (London DAILY MAIL, 2/17). ... Australian athletics was "hit by a drugs scandal" after the daughter of Olympic Gold Medalist and former senator NOVA PERIS tested positive for a banned substance. Sprinter JESSICA PERIS, 27, withdrew from last weekend's Commonwealth Games selection trials on the Gold Coast after the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority "detected a banned substance in her sample." She will "now await results for her B sample in the coming days" (STUFF, 2/20). ... A court in Valencia, Spain, which is investigating "possible irregularities in the organization of F1 races in Valencia," called on former Valencia region President FRANCISCO CAMPS to testify on May 18 (EFE, 2/20).
