London FA To Hire 100 Female Coaches To Boost Participation

The London FA pledged to hire 100 female football coaches to "inspire more young girls across the capital to get into the game," according to Jessica Morgan of the London EVENING STANDARD. London Leopards, the new initiative set up by the London FA and Wembley National Stadium Trust, will deliver introductory football sessions for 7-11-year-old girls over the course of four years. New statistics revealed only 7% of football coaches in London were female and the FA has "made it its mission to tackle the disparities in the industry." The project received a £200,000 ($279,898) injection from WNST to deliver the training, as well as backing from seven professional club community trusts, including Arsenal Women, Charlton Athletic Women, QPC FC in the Community and Tottenham Hotspur Foundation (EVENING STANDARD, 2/14).
