Amanda Staveley has "not made any attempt to revive her bid" to buy Premier League side Newcastle United after it emerged there has been no contact with Owner Mike Ashley since the start of December, according to Luke Edwards of the London TELEGRAPH. Although Staveley submitted three offers in November "in an effort to end Ashley’s 11-year reign" at St. James’ Park, they were rejected and she has "not returned with another one to try and revive the negotiations." It is thought the 44-year-old financier "may yet make another bid" through her PCP Capital company once Newcastle’s Premier League status has been confirmed, although Ashley "remains unconvinced she is able to do a deal after so many weeks of waiting for her to get close to his asking price." Ashley would be willing to sell for £300M ($419M) in a "cash upfront deal," but Staveley has "failed to get near that." Sources close to the discussions "insist Ashley has not altered his view that Staveley has wasted his time throughout the process and there are even doubts as to whether he would entertain her if she did make a fourth bid" (TELEGRAPH, 2/5).
