Media Notes: Fox, Premier League Join Copyright Lawsuit In Singapore

Fox and the Premier League joined telecoms Singtel and StarHub in a private prosecution case against two Android set-top box sellers in Singapore for allegedly "wilfully infringing" copyright. Singapore distributor Synnex Trading and retailer An-Nahl, along with their respective directors Jia Xiaofeng and Abdul Nagib Abdul Aziz, have been charged (RAPID TV NEWS, 1/15).

Sky Sports will show 12 matches from the Women's Cricket Super League this summer, almost double the amount of games broadcast from the '17 competition. The broadcaster will also show England Women's ODI series against New Zealand and South Africa as well as a T20 tri-series featuring all three sides (Sky Sports).

Jack Heverin will replace Mark Fine, who was fired on Monday, as Sports Entertainment Network's evenings host. Heverin has been with CrocMedia since '12 and "impressed as a host and caller, even filling in" for CEO Craig Hutchison on his show "Off The Beach." The evening program will be renamed "The Sporting Capital" (HERALD SUN, 1/16).

A drama about the "controversial final moments" of the Munich 1972 Gold Medal game between the U.S. and U.S.S.R. basketball teams "scored a new victory for Russia, becoming the highest-grossing domestic film of all time locally." "Three Seconds" (aka "Going Vertical") has grossed 1.889B rubles ($33.4M) since its release via Central Partnership on Dec. 28 (DEADLINE, 1/16).

Dutch OTT linear streaming platform Youfone is adding the Ziggo Sport Totaal multiplex to its offer. Ziggo Sport Totaal consists of six linear TV channels with coverage of "various sports," including football, golf, basketball, tennis and motorsports (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 1/16).

Serbia's first and only sports channel, SOS Kanal, was put up for sale by Owner Dragiša Kovačević. Cenzolovka and B92 reported that the entrepreneur "initially planned to close the channel but then decided to dispose of it so that its employees would not find themselves out of work." He added that there were "a number of interested parties" but refused to provide any details (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 1/16).

Interactive esports channel Gametoon was launched in Poland on Inea, which is making the service "available to all its subscribers who have a HD cable box" (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 1/16).
