Boxer Joe Parker's Promoter Finalizing Details Of Fight Vs. Anthony Joshua

Joseph Parker's promoter, David Higgins, will fly to London next week to put "the final touches" on the Anthony Joshua world title unification fight, according to the NEW ZEALAND HERALD. In an "update on the ongoing negotiations" with Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, Higgins said that the money "had been agreed, with Hearn making a small concession on the purse." Higgins had been holding out for 35% of the profits and he said that the deal had been struck at 30-35%. Parker will reportedly pocket NZ$12M ($8.5M). Higgins "confirmed there was a rematch clause" and if Parker was successful in the first fight -- "at a date and venue still yet to be confirmed" -- he would take 55% in the second. Higgins: "We are still pushing for neutral officials ... and I'd say Eddie would be agreeable to that." Higgins said that he enlisted the help of Wladimir Klitschko's lawyer and contract blueprint for his fight against Joshua last April to "make sure he got the best deal for 25-year-old Parker" (NZ HERALD, 12/28).
