League Notes: PGA Tour's Presidents Cup To Donate $10.7M To Charities Worldwide

The PGA Tour announced more than $10.7M from this year's Presidents Cup will be distributed to charitable causes around the world as chosen by the 34 players, captains and captain's assistants, a record-setting amount. Since the first Presidents Cup in '94, more than $49.1M has been generated from event proceeds. Over the past 23 years, the Presidents Cup has impacted more than 450 charities in 16 countries (PGA Tour).

Racehorse trainer Hughie Morrison, who claimed that one of his horses had been "maliciously injected" with anabolic steroids, said that his offer of a £10,000 ($13,398) reward "led to a possible suspect being identified." Morrison was charged by the British Horseracing Authority after a horse in his care, Our Little Sister, "failed a drugs test" after a race at Wolverhampton on Jan. 14 (LONDON TIMES, 12/20).

The World Chess Federation
(FIDE) logo for the 2018 World Chess Championships has "come under fire from fans and grandmasters alike for its slightly saucy design, which has seen it likened to a Kama Sutra position." The logo, the brainchild of Russian studio "Shuka Design," features two bodies "wrapped around each other in somewhat suggestive stances with a chessboard in the middle" (RT, 12/20).
