Facility Notes: Galway GAA Says It Can 'Shoulder' €2M Training Center Loss

The Galway Gaelic Athletic Association is "confident" it will be "able to shoulder an estimated€2M ($2.3M) loss on the now abandoned plans to build a training center near Athenry. The county committee decided to cut its losses and "sell the land." The committee will "instead try to accommodate" all its teams at the facility in Loughgeorge. The land at Athenry is valued at between €800,000 ($950,352) and €1M ($1.2M) and it is expected that the eventual loss to Galway GAA will be "somewhere in the region" of €2M-€2.5M ($2.3M-$3M) (LONDON TIMES, 12/19).

Malaysia Super League side Selangor received a "major boost" ahead of the upcoming season after being granted rights to use the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil as its home ground next year. Club President Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal said that the team has been "given the green light" by the Malaysia Stadium Corp. and is now awaiting approval from Football Malaysia LLP (NEW STRAITS TIMES, 12/20).

Scottish Premiership side Inverness Caledonian Thistle shareholders have "taken ownership of the lease of the club's stadium and North and South stands." A 99-year lease for the 15-acre site was granted to Caley Thistle by Highland Council in '95. The deal "does not include the stadium's car parks" (BBC, 12/19).

Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen will "create a new company to deliver the controversial Kingsford Stadium project." The wholly-owned subsidiary, to be led by club Exec Vice Chair George Yule, was announced to shareholders at the club's annual general meeting on Monday (BBC, 12/18).
