Athletics Australia Announces New Athlete's Advisory Group Featuring Sally Pearson

Australia’s "three best-performing athletes," world champion Sally Pearson, Olympic Medalist Jared Tallent and world championships medalist Dani Stevens, "have been named on a new athlete committee that will advise Athletics Australia," according to Nicole Jeffery of THE AUSTRALIAN. The initial 11-member Athlete’s Advisory Group will meet for the first time this week to "discuss issues including administration, competition schedule and the need for format innovation." Others in the group are Olympic racewalking Medalist Dane Bird-Smith, marathoner Jess Trengove, pole vaulter Kurtis Marschall, long-distance runner Eloise Wellings, long jumper Robbie Crowther, Paralympians Carlee Beattie and Scott Reardon and former athlete Benita Willis. Part of their remit will be to organize an election to "select a representative group in future." The group will liaise with AA CEO Darren Gocher, interim High-Performance Dir Adam Bishop and AA board members (THE AUSTRALIAN, 12/19).
