Franchise Notes: Crystal Palace Chair Insists Relegation Will Not Stop Redevelopment

Premier League side Crystal Palace Chair Steve Parish promised fans that relegation from the Premier League will not stop his £100M ($134.4M) redevelopment plans for Selhurst Park. After "unveiling his vision for the future of the 93-year-old stadium," he confirmed that "redevelopment will happen whether Palace stay up or not" (London INDEPENDENT, 12/4).

EPL side West Ham committed to paying all its staff the London Living Wage. It is "just the third Premier League club to be accredited by the Living Wage Foundation," after Chelsea and Everton. The commitment "sees everyone employed at the club, regardless of whether they are direct employees or third party contracted staff," receive a minimum hourly rate of £10.20 ($13.71) (London EVENING STANDARD, 12/5).

Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund opened an office in China, and has reportedly started operations in its new bureau in Shanghai. The club named Benjamin Wahl its new head of China. Wahl, who was previously Bayer 04 Leverkusen’s China coordinator, "will run the new three-man branch" (SOCCEREX, 12/5).

State of Origin side New South Wales Blues will abandon its "flirtation with training bases on the north coast next season and stay grounded in Sydney" (Sydney DAILY TELEGRAPH, 12/5).

Serie A side Juventus reportedly "urged a Romanian club with a similar name and crest to undergo a rebranding exercise" and drastically change its profile. The "team in question is Juventus Bucharest," which has used the name Juventus and a "strikingly similar crest" to the Italian club's since '92, but is "not affiliated with the Italians" (90MIN, 12/5).
