League Notes: British Gymnastics Suspends Eddie Van Hoof Amid Misconduct Allegations

British Gymnastics suspended Eddie van Hoof, who leads the men's program, following "allegations of misconduct." The governing body said that an independent investigation is being conducted but "declined to specify the nature of the allegations against Van Hoof," who was named U.K. coach of the year in '16 after "masterminding a campaign that saw Britain's male gymnasts win five medals at the Rio Olympics." British Gymnastics said in a statement, "The suspension is not a disciplinary penalty, and indeed does not imply any assumption of guilt" (London GUARDIAN, 12/4).

The World Touring Car Championship "looks certain to undergo a name change" as part of a deal to adopt TCR technical regulations for '18. The series is set to become known as the WTCR in an arrangement that will result in the end of the TCR Int'l Series. FIA and the owners of the WTCC are "understood to have agreed a licensing deal to use both TCR's regulations and its name" (MOTORSPORT, 12/4).
