England Will Play Australia In First Match At New 60,000-Seat Perth Stadium

England's one-day int'l against Australia in January "will become the first sporting event to take place at the Perth Stadium," according to the PA. England captain Eoin Morgan's team will "face the hosts at the new 60,000-capacity venue in Burswood" on Jan. 28. Cricket Australia confirmed the "switch across the Swan River for the fifth and final match of an ODI series which will follow the conclusion of this winter's Ashes Tests." CA CEO James Sutherland said, "For cricket to host the first major sporting event at Perth Stadium is a huge honor for our sport, and given it's an Australia-England fixture, we are confident that will be able to celebrate history being made with a sold-out stadium" (PA, 11/20).
