Paris St. Germain is "hoping to exploit a contract stand-off" between ManU and Manager José Mourinho, according to Simon Mullock of the London DAILY MIRROR. The terms of the deal the Portuguese signed when he arrived in Manchester 18 months ago were "designed to give the club extra security should such a situation arise." Mourinho sealed a three-year deal worth £45M when he succeeded Louis van Gaal in '16. He also agreed to ManU's demand that the agreement "should include the option of another 12 months" -- and that clause "can only be triggered by the club." It means ManU would be due two years' compensation should Mourinho quit at the end of the season -- worth £30M ($39.6M). ManU's "failure to hand" Mourinho a pay raise in recognition of winning the Europa League, League Cup and Community Shield in his first season at Old Trafford has "given PSG hope" that it can capitalize on his "growing frustration." But senior ManU sources said that the club has a timetable for renewing Mourinho's contract and "will not be forced into fast tracking talks" (DAILY MIRROR, 11/18).
