Franchise Notes: Chelsea Technical Dir Michael Emenalo 'Shocks' Club By Stepping Down

Michael Emenalo "shocked Chelsea" by deciding to step down from his position as technical director. While speculation has "been raging over the future" of Manager Antonio Conte, Emenalo decided to bring his 10-year association with the club to an end. The move "may be viewed in some quarters as a victory for Conte," but Emenalo has remained supportive of the Italian whom he helped appoint last year (London TELEGRAPH, 11/6).

ManU Manager José Mourinho wants more backing from the club in the transfer market "amid interest in him" from Paris St. Germain. PSG contacted Mourinho's agent, Jorge Mendes, after the ManU manager spoke "effusively" about the Ligue 1 leader last month. Mourinho is understood to want ManU to "step up" and offer him reassurances (MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS, 11/6).

Serie A side Napoli is being investigated to establish whether tickets were "unknowingly given to members of the Camorra mafia." Juventus President Andrea Agnelli was already sanctioned for illegally selling tickets, "some of which were then re-sold by the ‘Ndrangheta." Gazzetta dello Sport reported there is a similar investigation underway with Napoli, and "it includes some of the players" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 11/6).
