Event Notes: England Rugby Players Urged To Donate NZ$2,000 To Samoan Players

Two of England's Pacific Island players "are urging their test teammates" to donate close to NZ$2,000 ($1,390) each to their Samoan opponents this month. Mako Vunipola and Manu Tuilagi "are calling for England's players to set an example to rugby's governing bodies by splitting this month's match fees with Samoa" (London DAILY MAIL, 11/6).

New Zealand fans
are being urged to buy tickets through the Rugby League World Cup's official ticketing outlet to "avoid the risk of being over-charged by alternative sellers." Tournament officials "have become aware of issues resulting from spectators purchasing tickets from third-party sellers and other marketplace websites" (STUFF, 11/6).

The "much-awaited three-match T20 series between Pakistan and the West Indies," slated to be held later this month, is likely to be postponed, Pakistan Cricket Board officials said. A senior PCB official said that the "thick blanket of smog in Lahore, [where the matches were expected to be held], and the commitment of West Indies' major players to the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) became the main reasons for the postponement" (DAWN, 11/6).

The Harlem Globetrotters announced a U.K. arena tour for May, including a trip to Scotland. The Globetrotters will play at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow on May 24 (SCOTSMAN, 11/6).
