Juventus Tops '16-17 Champions League Payment Pool With €110.4M

Runner-up Juventus emerged as the "biggest" cash winner from last season's Champions League after securing €110.4M ($130.1M) in prize money and revenue, UEFA said on Friday, according to Hardik Vyas of REUTERS. EPL side Leicester City "remarkably edged" Real Madrid, with its run to the quarterfinals earning the club €81.6M ($96.2M), largely because the '15-16 Premier League champion had a "bigger share of broadcasting rights money." Real Madrid, which won its second consecutive Champions League title, received just over €81M ($95.5M). Man City collected €50.2M ($59.2M) and Tottenham earned €43.2 ($50.9M) despite the club's "early exit in the group stages." A €50M ($58.9M) pool was shared by 20 clubs that took part in the playoffs (REUTERS, 10/20).
