Nissan Reportedly To Be First Japanese Manufacturer On Formula E Grid
Nissan will reportedly replace Renault in Formula E, according to Scott Mitchell of MOTORSPORT. The Renault-Nissan alliance was "discussing how to best operate" works motorsport programs for the two manufacturers. Multiple sources confirmed that the union, which is one of the world's biggest automotive partnerships, has "green-lighted Nissan's move into the electric single-seater series." Nissan global motorsport arm NISMO Dir Mike Carcamo visited the Renault e.dams team and FIA during the Valencia preseason test last week. Formula E is "without representation from a Japanese manufacturer at present," but CEO Alejandro Agag said that he "expected that to change" (MOTORSPORT, 10/11).
