Mexican Football Federation Renews TV Contract With Televisa, TV Azteca

The Mexican Football Federation (FMF) announced Televisa and TV Azteca "renewed their contract for eight years to carry the men's and women's national team's World Cup qualifiers and matches," according to LA AFICIÓN. The joint offer led by billionaire Carlos Slim, which "included NBA Universal, Telemundo and América Móvil," was never finalized. During a meeting of Liga MX club owners, 12 teams voted in favor of renewing the contract with Televisa and TV Azteca, while four voted against it. The FMF announced "there will be no automatic renewal clause for after the next two World Cup cycles" (LA AFICIÓN, 9/29).
