Scottish Side Celtic Receives Go-Ahead To Build Hotel, Museum Next To Celtic Park

Scottish Premiership side Celtic received the green light to "build a multi-million pound hotel and museum" next to its stadium, according to Stuart Macdonald of the Scotland DAILY RECORD. The club's plans to regenerate the area around Celtic Park, which were unveiled earlier this year, "have been approved by council officials." Celtic released images of the proposed £18M ($24.2M) development which will "also include a new ticket office and retail store." The hotel will be based on London Road, outside the main stand of Celtic Park and across from the Emirates Arena. No objections were lodged to the plans "and the decision notice states that building work must be commenced within three years." In a statement to the council in support of its application, Celtic said that the development would create up to 120 jobs, provide an "economic boost to the area" and reduce congestion around the stadium. Plans for the hotel building state that it will be up to five stories in height and "will include a restaurant, cafe and bar" (DAILY RECORD, 9/28).
