NRL, Former Gold Coast Titans Coach Neil Henry In Negotiations Over Termination Payout

Former National Rugby League side Gold Coast Titans coach Neil Henry is "embroiled in legal action with the NRL over his termination payout" of more than A$400,000 ($317,500), according to Phil Rothfield of the Sydney DAILY TELEGRAPH. In an "almost identical position to Des Hasler at the Canterbury Bulldogs," Henry hired lawyers to "negotiate his leaving entitlements" after being originally told he would get nothing. His dispute is with the NRL, which owns the Titans. An NRL spokesperson said that "negotiations were ongoing." The spokesperson added, "We hope it will be resolved as soon as possible." Henry has now been offered A$100,000 ($79,400) -- "about a quarter of his contract." Henry was on vacation in Bali when contacted on Monday. He said, "As it is still in the negotiation stage, I would prefer not to comment" (DAILY TELEGRAPH, 9/25).
