The "awards keep flying in" for Matildas player SAM KERR, who was voted by her peers as the Australian women's player of the year at the 2017 Professional Footballers Australia Awards. Premier League side Huddersfield Town player AARON MOOY became the "first player to be voted player of the year twice in succession after being named the men's best" in '17. Former Matilda CHERYL SALISBURY became the first female player to win the PFA's Alex Tobin medal for service, achievements and dedication to football (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 9/17). ... Sri Lanka Cricket banned CHAMARA SILVA, who played in 11 Tests and 75 ODIs between '99 and '11, for two years from playing, coaching and administrating. Silva was banned for "breaching the spirit of the game during a Tier-B class match earlier this year, which was probed for alleged match-fixing" (PTI, 9/17).
