Event Notes: Welsh Government In Talks With RCS To Host Giro D'Italia Stage

Wales could host a Giro d'Italia stage after "positive discussions" between the Welsh Government and owner RCS. Representatives from RCS attended the Tour of Britain finale in Cardiff "as part of early negotiations." The Welsh Government has "long been keen" to bring a Grand Tour event to Wales (BBC, 9/14).

Georgia "will be given the chance to make a Six Nations statement next year" in a showcase Test against Italy. The fixture was approved at a World Rugby meeting in L.A. and will take place during the '18 autumn int'ls. Six Nations CEO John Feehan "has consistently rejected calls for Georgia to be invited into the tournament -- despite attracting crowds of 60,000 in Tbilisi and being ranked above Italy" (London DAILY MAIL, 9/16).

Ironman signed an agreement to acquire the Perskindol Swiss Epic mountain bike stage race. The annual event draws more than 500 professional and amateur riders from 30 nations (Ironman).
