The FA of Ireland launched an investigation into alleged match-fixing surrounding the friendly match between Bray Wanderers and Waterford on Sept. 8. League of Ireland Premier Division side Bray lost the match 5-0 (RTÉ, 9/14).
The late Graham Taylor "was dragged into" football's pedophile scandal after it emerged that "the inquiry into historic sexual abuse in the game had heard claims the former England manager was involved in a cover-up" which led to boys being exposed to a serial offender. Former Leicester City player Tony Brien told the independent inquiry that Taylor had "discouraged him from reporting the abuse he suffered" at the hands of Ted Langford and urged him to "move on" after he had tried to warn Aston Villa about a man "who was later convicted" of a string of offenses (London TELEGRAPH, 9/13).
FIFA agreed to cover the costs of South Africa's World Cup qualifier replay against Senegal in Nov. '16. The match originally took place in November, when South Africa won 2-1 "courtesy of some controversial decisions from referee Joseph Lamptey" (ESPN.com, 9/14).
Current and former Korea FA execs "were charged over allegations of misappropriating the organization's budget," police said Thursday. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency said that 11 former and current KFA employees were "arrested without detention for breach of duty," as they allegedly exploited their group's money for private use between '11 and '12 (YONHAP, 9/14).
Russian side Spartak Moscow was charged after a flare was fired toward the referee during its Champions League match at Slovenian side Maribor on Wednesday. The object, "thrown from the away stand, came close to hitting German official Deniz Aytekin near the halfway line" (BBC, 9/14).
