EuroBasket Struggling To Fill Arenas Through 60-Game Group Phase

This year's EuroBasket "is semi-empty," attendance numbers show, according to Juan Jiménez of AS. Through 60 games, a total of 256,954 fans have attended, an average of 4,283. The four venues that hosted games have an average capacity of 10,762, meaning "the average game drew just 39.79% of capacity." Helsinki Arena has been 47.9% full; while Tel Aviv Arena (40.09%); Cluj-Napoca, Romania's Polyvalent Hall (38.6%) and Istanbul's Fenerbache Arena (31.2%) have also drawn less than 50% of capacity. The game that drew the biggest crowd was the contest between Finland and France (12,417) in Helsinki (AS, 9/11).
