West Indies' Performance In First England Test Impacts Ticket Sales

The West Indies' "poor performance" in the first Test against England "has hit ticket sales" for the second game at Headingley, which starts on Friday, according to Elizabeth Ammon of the LONDON TIMES. Yorkshire officials said that sales for the fourth day have "stalled" since West Indies was beaten by an innings inside three days at Edgbaston, "even though it is a bank holiday Monday." While days one and two of the second Test are "almost sold out" and 70% of tickets for day three have been taken up, "only 3,500 advance tickets for day four -- out of a possible 15,500 -- have gone." Yorkshire County Cricket Club Commercial Dir Andy Dawson said that the low advance ticket sales "were probably to do with concerns about whether the match would finish early," but that sales for the first three days are up from the past few Tests (LONDON TIMES, 8/24).
