Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar on Tuesday demanded that the Pakistan Cricket Board organize at least one of the Pakistan-Sri Lanka T20 series matches in his city. Akhtar said, "This is a welcome sign that the drought of international cricket [in Pakistan] is finally ending, thus, it is high time that the country's largest city deserves to get at least one match in the upcoming series." He promised a "foolproof" security plan for players and officials by "effectively engaging police and paramilitary Rangers if a match was awarded to the city" (DAWN, 8/16).
The next edition of the Premier Badminton League "will be an eight-team affair with the addition of two more franchises." The tournament will "add teams from Guwahati and Ahmedabad" (HINDUSTAN TIMES, 8/16).
Ticketmaster "is in the eye of the storm" on social media. Fans are criticizing the company after tickets to the Nov. 19 NFL Oakland Raiders-New England Patriots game in Mexico City sold out "in minutes" during a presale period. Many social media users "claimed that most of the tickets were meant to be resold," and said that prices are "already exorbitant" (EL ECONOMISTA, 8/15).
