Athletics Competition Between Great Britain, U.S. Will Take Place In London In '18

The "cream of Britain's track and field athletes will take on their American counterparts in an innovative new competition" called "The Meet" at the London Stadium next year, according to Adam Shergold of the London DAILY MAIL. The "fast-paced, two-hour event" will feature running, jumping, hurdles and relay disciplines and "bring the two athletics powerhouses into direct competition." The Meet will take place at the London Stadium on July 21, 2018. The exact format will be finalized "in the early stages of next year." UK Athletics CEO Niels de Vos said, "The Meet will provide audiences with a fantastic head-to-head match between British Athletics and USA Track & Field, and promises to be one of the biggest events in athletics in 2018" (DAILY MAIL, 8/16).
