Wimbledon Turns Blind Eye To Andy Murray's Team's Violation Of Advertising Rule

Wimbledon, which normally cracks down on any advertising rules breach on Centre Court, "turned a blind eye to blatant ambush marketing within Andy Murray’s team," according to Charles Sale of the London DAILY MAIL. Coach Jamie Delgado and Davis Cup captain Leon Smith wore baseball hats in the players’ box during Murray’s matches promoting short-form tennis venture "Tie Break Tens." The brand is "clearly visible" to the TV cameras that "film the players' box on numerous occasions especially when Murray is playing." The All England Lawn Tennis Club is "relaxed about the pirate activity," even though Smith and Delgado are "allegedly under contract to wear the caps." The Lawn Tennis Association, which employs Smith, was not concerned either, as "Tie Break Tens" is not a rival of official clothing supplier Nike (DAILY MAIL, 7/12).
