Football Notes: Tickets For Real Madrid-Barcelona ICC Match Being Resold For $10,000

Tickets for the Int'l Champions Cup match between Real Madrid and Barcelona on July 29 in Miami are being resold for as much as $10,000, according to the ICC. On Tuesday, there were 4,602 seats being offered on the ICC's official resale site, with the cheapest costing $288 (EL PAÍS, 7/11).

Hong Kong Premier League side Eastern Exec Dir Peter Leung Shou-chi said that allowing Guangzhou-based R&F to use foreign players next season in an effort to raise its standards "is unfair and threatens to undermine the balance of the league." R&F, a subsidiary of Chinese Super League side Guangzhou R&F, played in Hong Kong’s top league last season "but the development side finished second from bottom in the standings." Leung: "I cannot understand why they are allowed to field foreign players. The affluent mainland clubs can easily afford top-class foreigners, which no other local clubs can match in terms of financial resource. It will make life very difficult for us" (SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST, 7/11).

Brasileiro side Vasco da Gama was ordered to "play home matches behind closed doors after a fan was shot dead during disturbances" at its stadium. Vasco's 1-0 loss on Sunday to Flamengo in the Rio de Janeiro derby "was marred by crowd trouble at the final whistle" (BBC, 7/11).
