Barcelona City Council To Expand Espai Barça By 14,000 Square Meters

Barcelona City Council Deputy Mayor of Urban Planning, Mobility & Ecology Janet Sanz presented a proposal for the remodeling of the area around the Camp Nou, "which means the Espai Barça will gain nearly 14,000 square meters of public land," according to AS. Sanz presented a plan that "will be subject to approval next Wednesday." The project establishes that "an area covering 33,796 square meters will be for public use, and will be developed with the objective of becoming open to the people of Barcelona." Sanz said that "the project is the fruit of months of work with FC Barcelona and a process involving the participation of people living near the area" (AS, 7/6).
