Media Notes: EBU, ASO Sign Agreement For Tour De France Media Rights From '20-23

The European Broadcasting Union and Amaury Sport Organisation signed an agreement for the media rights to the Tour de France from '20-23. The coverage will be available on free-to-air TV channels in Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the U.K., Ireland, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Norway, Luxembourg, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia and on Eurosport channels throughout Europe (EBU).

The free-to-air and pay-TV channels operated by Discovery Networks Deutschland will "continue to be carried on Swiss IPTV platform Swisscom TV." The TV broadcaster extended its "long-standing partnership" with Switzerland’s national telecom. It was also agreed that "Swisscom will become the exclusive marketing partner for the Eurosport Player in Switzerland and Liechtenstein" (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 7/3).

The BBC will continue to show live coverage of the Eastbourne Int'l women's tennis tournament until at least '24. Free-to-air tournament coverage will remain on TV, radio and online (BBC).

SuperSport announced it acquired the exclusive broadcast rights for Netball South Africa for a further five years (SuperSport).

The Confederations Cup final between Chile and Germany drew an average audience of 1.28 million viewers to TMC in France. The numbers translated to a 5.7% market share. The match, which Germany won 1-0, attracted a peak audience of 1.9 million, making it the sixth-most watched program in France on Sunday (L’ÉQUIPE, 7/3).
