To take his vote of no confidence "to the next stage," he needs the support of approximately 16,500 Barcelona members. He said, "I am able to ensure that Barça will experience a censure vote this summer" (AS, 6/29). ... Hours after he captained Portugal to semifinal defeat in the Confederations Cup in Russia, CRISTIANO RONALDO "announced the birth of twins." For days, Portuguese media reported that the footballer's twins "had been born to a surrogate mother" in the U.S. But it was only after the national team was "knocked out on penalties by Chile that he confirmed the birth" (BBC, 6/29). ... Security "fears" from Queensland Police have ensured boxer MANNY PACQUIAO will not make any public appearances ahead of Sunday's world title fight with Australian JEFF HORN in Brisbane. Event promoter Duco Events Dir DEAN LONERGAN said that Pacquiao had "not received any threats but would be keeping a low profile" upon advice from police after a "quite hairy" incident during his last visit. He added that police recommended Pacquiao "stay out of public view after being swamped by Brisbane fans when his location was revealed via social media while visiting for a promotional tour in April" (AAP, 6/29).
