Event Notes: AFL Clubs Take Advantage Of Dynamic Ticketing, Study Finds

Clubs are "10 times more likely to raise ticket prices" under the Australian Football League's "controversial pricing system," an AFL Fans Association investigation found. Dynamic ticketing was introduced in the lead-up to the '16 season with fans told the system would be "favourable" for them. However, "of the 56 times dynamic ticketing has been used by clubs this year, prices have been lowered only five times" (THE AGE, 6/27).

FIFA on Monday said that the re-laid pitch at the St. Petersburg stadium "had sustained damage but was being treated" before it hosts the final of the Confederations Cup on Sunday. The 68,000-seat stadium will be a "flagship venue" at the 2018 World Cup. But the pitch had to be "hastily re-laid after it was cut up during the inaugural match there in April" (REUTERS, 6/26).

Tottenham Hotspur will play its home games at Wembley Stadium during the '17-18 season "as work continues" on its new stadium. It seemed as if away fans would be allocated 6,000 tickets for Premier League matches -- "although only half of that allocation will actually be available" (CHRONICLE LIVE, 6/26).

The Fenway Hurling Classic has been expanded to four teams with the Gaelic Athletic Associations of Dublin and Galway "set to be joined by Clare and Tipperary" at Fenway Park on Nov. 19. Dublin and Galway clashed in Boston in '15 in the Super 11s format. They will face off once more with their game "to be followed by a clash between the reigning league and All-Ireland champions" (IRISH INDEPENDENT, 6/27).

Moscow will host the "Street Child World Cup: The Future Depends on You" football tournament in May '18, ahead of the 2018 World Cup. The tournament, organized by Street Child United in partnership with Russian telecom Megafon, "will be contested by teams of orphanages" (RT, 6/27).

The NBA, FIBA and the Bahamas Basketball Federation announced the top 66 boys and girls from 16 countries and territories who will travel to the Bahamas for the ninth Basketball Without Borders Americas Camp. The camp will be held in Nassau from July 5-8. Nike will serve as the official partner (NBA).

ONE Championship announced its second event in Macao, China. ONE: Kings & Conquerors will be held in the Cotai Arena of The Venetian Macao, where Brazilian Bibiano Fernandes will face American Andrew Leone (ONE Championship).
