Chelsea’s Premier League title victory earned the club almost £151M ($195M) "in prize cash," with official figures released on Wednesday showing it "pocketed" £150,811,183 ($194.4M) "from central funds alone," according to Nick Harris of the London DAILY MAIL. The money comes "primarily" from the EPL’s "huge TV deals but also includes Chelsea’s share of the league’s central commercial income." Man City was the second-highest earner, making £146,927,965 ($189.4M), followed by Liverpool with £146,122,439 ($188.3M) then Tottenham with £145,461,325 ($187.5M). Man City and Liverpool earned more than Tottenham "despite finishing lower" than Spurs in the table because they had "more games shown live" on TV in the U.K. -- and more TV games "means more money in the payments system." ManU, with £141M ($181.7M), was the only other club earning more than £140M ($180M) "although Arsenal came close" with £139.6M ($179M). The lowest-earning club, Sunderland, had to settle for "only" £93,471,118 ($120.5M). The 20 clubs "split a staggering" £2.4B ($3.1B) this season from annual Premier League income that is now approaching £3B ($3.9B) a year, the "vast majority from TV deals either at home or from overseas" (DAILY MAIL, 6/1).
