Facility Notes: Super League Side Wakefield Chair Says Club Will Leave Belle Vue

Super League side Wakefield Chair Michael Carter said that the club "will leave Belle Vue at the end of the year." Writing in his program notes ahead of the game against Salford, Carter said that the "lack of progress on a planned redevelopment" had left him with "no choice" but to serve notice of the club's departure. Wakefield has played at Belle Vue since 1895. An agreement was reached with the stadium's owners in September for a revamped arena and retail park to be built at Belle Vue within two years, "but work has not started" (SKY SPORTS, 3/12).

Australian Football League side Greater Western Sydney's home in Canberra, Manuka Oval, will become known as UNSW Canberra Oval for the next three years. The naming rights agreement between GWS and local university UNSW Canberra is the next stage of a partnership which began in '14 (GWS Giants).

EPL side Hull City Manager Marco Silva said that it is "impossible" for his team to continue to play at the KCOM Stadium "the day after a rugby match has been held on the same pitch." Silva was critical of the state of the KCOM's pitch after his side beat Swansea 2-1 on Saturday. Silva: "One team plays rugby on the Friday and then we play -- for me, it's impossible at this level" (BBC, 3/12).
