Swansea Considering Wales National Team Boss Chris Coleman For Manager

Chris Coleman is "emerging as a serious contender to take over" at Premier League side Swansea City, with the EPL "strugglers weighing up an official approach in the next 48 hours," according to Percy & Law of the London TELEGRAPH. Coleman has "already been alerted to Swansea's interest and is facing a potentially huge dilemma" over whether to leave his position as manager of the Wales national team. Swansea will have to make an approach to the FA of Wales to open talks with the 46-year-old, but Coleman is understood to be "keen" on hearing what the club's American owners have to say. He earns a "basic" £500,000 ($612,000) a year with Wales and "could possibly triple that salary by taking over at Swansea," while he will land a "substantial bonus" if he guides the club to survival. Former Wales and ManU attacker Ryan Giggs is still considered an "outsider," despite being admired by Swansea Chair Huw Jenkins, and the club is still drawing up "a final shortlist." Alan Pardew and Nigel Pearson are "expected to be included on it" (TELEGRAPH, 12/28).
