Bradford Bulls Expected To Make 'Significant Announcement' Regarding Sale Of Club

The administrators of rugby Championship side Bradford Bulls "have revealed they expect to make 'a significant announcement' by the weekend regarding the sale" of the club, according to Laurence Kilgannon of INSIDER MEDIA. PBC Business Recovery had set a deadline of Dec. 7 for "best and final offers to purchase the Bulls." The administrators said that "they had received offers from four separate parties by the deadline." The administrators have now "clarified many of the issues." Offers are now in place from "two preferred parties," which are subject to an ongoing due diligence process. A "dialogue has been maintained" with the Rugby Football League, the administrators and the interested parties. Wages have been paid in full for both playing and non-playing staff at Bradford Bulls (INSIDER MEDIA, 12/15). In Bradford, Lee Jones reported the Bulls' debts are thought to be "well over" £1M ($1.24M) and the club has had its Rugby Football League membership withdrawn. The "financially-stricken" club is now in its fifth week of administration, and "speculation that liquidation is even a possibility has understandably left many fans worried" (TELEGRAPH & ARGUS, 12/14).
