Indian Fans Failing To Show Up To England-India Test Despite $9 Ticket Price

Observant Test cricket fans would have noticed that India supporters are "failing to fill out the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium during the first Test," according to Anthony Hay of the London DAILY MAIL. Watch any of the action on TV and "you will see the different colours of the stadium seats with fans failing to make it to cheer on Test cricket's No. 1 side." There are "a number of reasons why fans are failing to pack out the 25,000-seated stadium, which is hosting its first ever Test match, with the location of the ground being a key one." The cricket ground is located 15km out of Rajkot city center and is "proving to be a nightmare for fans to get to." Rajkot, situated in the state of Gujarat, has a population of more than 1.2 million but the Board of Control for Cricket in India is "still failing to get people through the door." A five-day pass for the Test costs in the region of 600 rupees ($9). Individual day tickets can be purchased for 100 rupees ($1.50) "for the next Test" (DAILY MAIL, 11/10).
