Brazilian Media Company Globo Set To Sign $18M Rights Deal With Primeira Liga

Brazilian media company Globo is "set to seal a broadcasting rights agreement" for the Primeira Liga, a breakaway Brazilian tournament, according to SOCCEREX. According to ESPN.com.br the deal, which will run from '17-19, "was agreed to by all but one" of the 16 clubs at a meeting in Belo Horizonte. The contract "still requires the consent of Atletico-PR." Globo’s deal will reportedly be worth R$60M ($18.7M) "over the course of its three-year term." Primeira Liga CEO José Sabino said, "We do not have a fully defined situation yet because we depend on the signing of a club" (SOCCEREX, 10/28).
