Argentina's River Plate Signs Two-Year, $3M Deal With Chinese Telecom Huawei

Argentine first division club River Plate announced that Chinese telecom Huawei has become its newest sponsor, according to XINHUA. The two-year agreement will see the Huawei logo appear on the team's shirt sleeves, as well as on posters inside El Monumental stadium and on "various communication and promotion materials." In July, Huawei signed a similar sponsorship agreement with Boca Juniors. Huawei is China's leading cellphone manufacturer and the third-largest in the world (XINHUA, 10/20). In Buenos Aires, Nahuel Trasmonte reported Huawei will spend $1.5M per year, plus $1M more "for work to improve Wi-Fi at El Monumental" (OLÉ, 10/19).
