League Notes: NBA To Hold 'NBA Crossover' Cultural Exhibition In London

The NBA announced "NBA Crossover," a cultural exhibition in London displaying the convergence of the NBA and popular culture through the ages. The free exhibition, a first of its kind for the league, will take place in Shoreditch from Oct. 28-30 and will feature appearances by two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Steve Nash. NBA Crossover will use interactive exhibits, video and imagery to showcase the relationship between the league, its players and fashion, music, film and entertainment. Visitors will be able to journey back to the league’s early years (NBA).

The newly-elected Boxing Federation of India on Tuesday "decided to revive the National championships at all levels." The National women’s boxing championship will be the first one to be held at Haridwar from Nov. 19-24 followed by the National men’s event at Guwahati in December. Youth, junior and sub-junior national championships will be conducted before March 31 (THE HINDU, 10/19).

Habib Cissé, the former legal adviser to "disgraced" former IAAF President Lamine Diack, has been placed in custody "as part of the French investigation into corruption linked to state-sponsored doping of Russian athletes, sources said Tuesday." Cisse, 41, was put under investigation in Nov. '15 for corruption along with Diack and Gabriel Dolle, the former anti-doping doctor for the IAAF. Cisse's lawyers, Louis-Marie de Roux and Cedric Labrousse, said that the decision was "unbelievable and unjustified" and immediately appealed it (AFP, 10/19).

New South Wales Opposition Leader Luke Foley is "pressuring the Baird Government to speed up the reversal of its controversial greyhound racing ban by introducing a motion to scrap the legislation" in parliament on Wednesday. Foley announced a "notice of motion in the legislative assembly" on Tuesday proposing to repeal the ban. The ban legislation, passed in August, "would prohibit greyhound racing from July 1 next year" (THE AUSTRALIAN, 10/19).
