Red Bull Reverses Course, Will Keep Servus TV Operational In Germany

Austrian media company Red Bull Media House "will not cease distribution" of its TV channel Servus TV in Germany at the end of '16, according to Jörn Krieger of BROADBAND TV NEWS. A spokesperson said that the "very positive feedback from TV viewers, customers and agencies" in the past weeks and months has "encouraged the broadcaster to continue its distribution as a classic TV channel in addition to the online service." The move "marks the channel’s second u-turn this year." In May '16, Austrian billionaire and Red Bull Founder Dietrich Mateschitz announced the closure of Servus TV for financial reasons, "but revoked the decision the next day" (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 10/18).
