Sky Deutschland To Launch New Video-Focused Sports Website In '17

German pay-TV sports network Sky Deutschland will launch a new sports website next summer. The Munich-based company on Wednesday said that it will establish a new digital sports platform, skysport.de, in the summer of '17. The website will primarily focus on video content and becomes the fourth pillar in the Sky Sport brand, which consists of live broadcasts on pay-TV, sports news on Sky Sport News HD on free-TV starting December and their corresponding social media platforms. The website will take content from Sky's live broadcasts and Sky Sport News HD, but it will also create additional content that will not be available on TV. The website will not require a Sky subscription and be financed through ad sales. It is not clear if Skysport.de will use content from sister companies such as Sky UK or Sky Italia. A request for comment regarding the site's feature structure, including the scope of editorial content outside of video, was not answered by the time this story was published.
