Bundesliga Side Bayer Leverkusen Unveils Record Profit Of More Than $51M

Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen "unveiled its financial results for the '14-15 season in which it made a record profit," according to Thomas Gassmann of the EXPRESS. The club, which is owned by pharmaceutical company Bayer, generated a profit of €45.7M ($51.7M). Not even defending German champion Bayern Munich came close to that number. Bayern had a €31.4M ($35.5M) profit in '15. Leverkusen's turnover of a little more than €200M ($226M) was also a record. The club generated €60M ($68M) through the sale of players. A further €30M ($34M) came from its Champions League performance. The team also benefited from an increased average attendance of 29,500 at the 30,000-seat BayArena (EXPRESS, 8/22).
